#5.  June 25th, 2024 (Hearing): The court set a mention date of September 12th for mention. 

 

Case Overview

On March 18th, 2024 at 1600 hrs at the National Oil  Petrol Station, near Isinya town; the accused Jeremiah Tukuo and Gilbert Loshorua  together with others not before the courts were found without a permit, in possession of  with 24pcs of ivory weighing 56 kg. These were packed in two sacks and being transported on a white motorcycle

PROCEEDINGS

#4.  June 20th, 2024 (Hearing):This attendance was missed due to late updating by Kajiado court. It is doubtful, however, that the hearing took place. The matter was adjourned to June 25th for hearing.

#3.  June 18th, 2024 (Hearing): The scheduled hearing did not take place due to a day of mourning for all courts across the country regarding the shooting death of a Makadara magistrate. This matter was later adjourned to June 20th for hearing.

#2 April 4th, 2024 (Mention): The matter was coming up for pre trial before Hon. Jane Kamau and Ms. Borr for the prosecution.  Present in court were the two accused persons, defence council, and the investigating officer.

The defence council made an application to recover the seized motorbike and two mobile phones.

The IO informed the court that the accused signed a consent and the phones were taken for forensic analysis. The court further advised that regarding the motorbike release, an affidavit would need to be submitted requiring such. 

The matter will continue with two witnesses and the next hearing date is scheduled for June 18th, 2024.

#1.March 19th, 2024 (Plea): The two accused pleaded not guilty. A mention date has been slated for April 4th, 2024.
