106 kg of ivory abandoned by two suspects on January 11th, 2025. They also left behind a motorcycle of Tanzanian registration. This was the 4th seizure in the coastal area of Lunga Lunga in the past 18 months.

<15 kg – 2 pieces
Mwendwa Ngura Ngavu and Serah Norah Mwendwa
Arrested in Mwingi on a house search
  1. April 24th, 2025
2.6 kg – 1 piece rhino horn
Mohamed Salah Mustapha arrested with rhino horn.
Arrested in Moyale (on Ethiopia border) and charged in JKIA court (MCCR/E080/2025)
  1. April 11th, 2015
60 kg – 2 pieces
3 arrested while transporting ivory in a car.
Arrested in Nkubu, Meru County
  1. March 29th, 2025
47.3 kg – 1 piece
Charles Kipkemoi Bett arrested based on KWS intel.
Appeared in Nakuru court (MCCR/E718/2025)
  1. March 24th, 2025
10 kg – 1 piece
2 men arrested on motorcycle
Seizure made in Malindi area (coast)
  1. March 12th, 2025.
51 kg – 6 pieces
Mahatma Ibrahim Mohamed and 1 other arrested in a vehicle in Nairobi West by KWS HQ.
The 3 appeared in JKIA court on March 13th. (MCCR/E053/2025)
  1. January 23rd, 2025.
49 kg – 8 pieces
Police officers Salome Waithera Kinuthia and Nelson Kenyatta Mwangi were arrested on Mombasa Hwy  (Machakos) by KWS HQ.
As of February 3rd, 2025, ODPP in Nairobi had not yet decided whether there was evidence to charge.
  1. January 11th, 2025
106  kg – 15 pieces
Suspects fled leaving ivory and Tanzanian registered M/C behind.
Seizure made in Kwale County in Lunga Lunga area. (coast)
  1. January 8th, 2025.
Unknown amount
Michael Odhiambo Odhiambo and 2 others arrested
The three appeared in Kahawa court on January 9th before PM G. Kiage (MCCR/E003/2025)
  1. January 7th, 2025
36.55 kg – 4 pieces
Arrested Paul Mosonik and 4 others
The 5 appeared in Narok court charged with dealing in wildlife trophies. (MCCR/E033/2025)
