#09. July 1st, 2024 (Mention): The court has set another mention date of July 17th. (Nairobi demonstrations).

 

Case Overview

On April 21st, 2024 around 1630 hrs, at  Mayfair  Total petrol station Parklands area, Westland’s Sub-county, Nairobi county. The accused,  Erick Theuri Wairimu, Harrison Mithika Kiraithe, and Heston Getange Matara and another, were jointly found dealing in trophies of endangered species; 5 pieces of ivory weighing 28.1 kgs.

#08. June 17th, 2024 (Mention): The court was closed today due to a recently gazetted public holiday.  The matter was later given another mention date of July 1st.

#07. June 3rd, 2024 (Mention): The court has provided another mention date of June 17th, 2024.

#06. May 29th, 2024 (Mention): The court gave another mention date of June 3rd.

#05. May 28th, 2024 ( Hearing): The matter was coming up for hearing before Hon. Boaz. The prosecution informed that an amendment  has been made to the  charge sheet, so all accused have to take plea again. He further stated that the IO was going to produce a 4th accused by noon.

The defence was in agreement with the prosecutor but due to other matters at hand, suggested a much further time in the afternoon. The magistrate mentioned that the court was cognizant of the matters in the other court, and that they were likely to be lengthy as had been the previous day. The magistrate also mentioned that he had a court users’ committee to attend in the afternoon so the 

Parties decided to take the next date (tomorrow ) May 29th 2024 for a new plea.
