It is reported that there has been no construction on the site for over one year.
Seven Years Imprisonment for Voi Area Man

On October 6th, 2023, Kenga Kitsao Saro, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. He had been arrested by KWS rangers on April 4th, 2023 at his home and found with;  15 arrow heads, 1 bow, 2 arrow sticks, and 2 pieces of elephant tusks weighing 10.8 kg.  In her sentencing, Chief Magistrate A.M. Obura, said that despite his 57 years of age, his family being reliant on him for support and his first time offender status, the nature of the offence was serious.

This case was dispensed with in seven months, a far shorter time frame than is typical. The matter was before the court on 15 occasions from arraignment to final sentencing and heard prosecution evidence from three KWS rangers and the NMK expert, Dr. Ogeto Mwebi. The accused had been in custody for the entire period since arrest in April. His bail amount had been reduced to KES 30,000 (USD $200) which he could not afford.

His seven year sentence will commence from the date of his arrest as he was in custody during the length of the trial.
