Mansur Mohamed Surur who is wanted in the US over links to the illegal Rhino and Elephant horns trade will have to wait a little longer to know whether he will be granted bail pending a hearing of the extradition proceedings.

This is after Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku said that the ruling on bail is not ready and postponed it to October 7.

She directed that the suspect be remanded till October 7 when the bail application will be heard.

Mansour is wanted by the USA over links to the illegal Rhino horn and Elephant ivory trade. The prosecution says that it will call one witness to confirm that Mansour is a fugitive who is wanted in the US.

Through his lawyer, Mansour has asked the court to give him more days to file his response, noting that he will raise the issue of jurisdiction and whether the charges he is facing can be tried in the country.

He is expected to face conspiracy to commit wildlife trafficking, money laundering, and conspiracy to distribute and process controlled substance charges in the US.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions  (DPP)  has opposed his release on bail.
